A
Declaration of
Those Things Most Surely Believed Among Us |
|
This loose leaf volume is a collection of 52 Bible studies written
by Pastor R.S.Brewer for the Teenage and Adult first-year Sunday School classes
of Gilbert Independent Baptist Church.
These lessons were written primarily to ground the new Christian in the
basics of God’s eternal truth, and as a study guide for GIBC teachers as they
prepare to give knowledge and instruction to all from new Christians to Older
Christians who have been in churches where the teaching of the Word of God has
been pushed to the side. From
Salvation to the Second Coming, we desire to teach and preach the whole counsel
of God and teach others to “observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you.” We include several lessons on
the Bible itself. Why the King
James Bible is God’s preserved Word is covered and why the modern day versions,
from the mid 1800’s to the present, mark the Great Falling Away. These lessons are written to ground the
believer in God’s eternal truth and
create in him an awe for God’s written Word, which the Lord magnifies above His
name. (Psalm 138:2) Our hope and
prayer is that after the new believer has learned these basic but eternal
truths, he will come to the point that he says with the Psalmist. ”Therefore I
esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right and I hate every false
way.” (Psalm 119:128) |

Biblical Philosophy: Ye
Shall know the truth and the truth shall Make you free (John 8:32).
As
teachers of these eternal truths, our job and our calling is to pass this
knowledge on, being careful to make sure it is presented in such a manner as to
enable the student to grasp and understand the truth envisioning the day that they will be
prepared, in turn, to share the Truth with others. This means they must understand what is
taught. Like salvation, though it is simple by Divine
design, only becomes salvation when
God’s truth is understood and
received. This takes a combination
of the teacher/soulwinner not only having experienced Biblical salvation
himself, but also understanding it so that he might make the student understand
it as well. Understanding the basic plan of salvation then enables the student
to understand and receive our Lord’s free gift of eternal life This takes the culmination of all that
is involved in being a teacher, in partnership with and under the direction of
the Holy Spirit’s guidance and illumination of the truth that is taught. (John
16) Our desire is for
the born-again student to come to the point where he understands and
acknowledges that the Scripture,
perfectly preserved in the King James Bible, is God’s eternal Truth. Thy Word is
Truth. (John 17:17) For
only the Truth sets man
free. And ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32) May these lessons be part of learning to
love God’s Word, the Eternal Truth.
